Fylde Girls

Fylde Girls

We launched our new Girls cricket section in 2023, a major new initiative for the club. and almost 20 girls got their first taste of cricket! Our girls section is currently open to girls in school years 4 to 6, but we hope to open this up to older age groups in the future.

Training is on a Friday night and will be entered into a variety of girls softball competitions and festivals throughout the summer. We aim to build on this in future years by entering hardball cricket leagues too.

But it’s not just about entering competitions - we want to create a vibrant and fun environment for girls to learn how to play and enjoy cricket and the company of their friends.

What's opportunities are there for girls at Fylde CC?

  • Girls are welcome to participate in any appropriate group, and our Foxes programme (Year 1 to Year 3) is for both boys and girls, and we do have many girls involved already.
  • All abilities are welcome! Our qualified coaches can help everyone progress!
  • All of our hardball age-group teams are mixed, and the league rules allow girls to be able to play a year down if appropriate for them.
  • We have a dedicated female coach focused on girls cricket, and we are looking to recruit more.

When is training?
Outdoor sessions run on Fridays, in the winter at Unity Academy, and in the summer at our Moorland Road home.

What else is going on?
Our outdoor Friday night junior sessions have become well known locally, with a busy bar operating alongside our outdoor beer garden. We also have food available from our on-site catering partners. It's a great place to be!

What's the cost?
The monthly direct debit is £24 and this provides membership to our club for both parents too. There are no additional fees for training sessions, matches etc and the fee is only charged for our active months (Jan-Aug).
